Looking for That Special Gift This Holiday Season? Consider Your National Parks.

A National Parks Pass or a Lassen Volcanic National Park Annual Pass could be the perfect gift for many on your list! A park pass will remind the recipient of your generosity throughout the coming year as they enjoy the majestic beauty of our country’s national parks.

The National Parks Pass sells for $50.00 and is valid one year from the month of purchase.  This pass is honored at all national park facilities that charge entrance fees. The Lassen Volcanic Annual Park Pass sells for $25.00 and will be valid for one year from the date of first use and is also honored at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Considering Yosemite charges a $20 entrance fee, these passes are quite a deal! Passes may be purchased Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at park headquarters in Mineral. Without one of these passes, a visitor pays a $10 entrance fee per vehicle which is valid for just seven consecutive days.

The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (2004), which replaced the Recreational Fee Demonstration Authority, allows park areas to collect and retain up to 80% of their fees. These fees provide for enhanced visitor enjoyment. Since 1998, an estimated $725 million has been retained by the NPS to accomplish projects such as rehabilitating historic structures, improving hiking trails and campgrounds, replacing aging water and sewer systems, providing new exhibits and interpretive signs, providing accessibility to visitors with disabilities, and protecting natural and cultural resources. The purchase of these passes will provide additional funding to continue these kinds of projects.

For more information, please contact the park at (530) 595- 4444, Monday through Friday except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo.
