MINERAL, CA- Lassen Volcanic National Park is seeking public comment on its Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation Transition Plan beginning March 15, 2021 through April 15, 2021.

An accessibility self-evaluation and transition plan provides direction for parks as they modify existing services, activities, and programs in park areas. This is intended to help parks remove physical and programmatic barriers and improve the accessibility at the park for all visitors. To learn more about this plan and strategy, please visit the Lassen Accessibility Strategy website at: go.nps.gov/lavo/setp.

An interdisciplinary team, including park and regional staff, identified the key park experiences and evaluated park areas to determine which areas would be evaluated for accessibility needs. The team then developed implementation strategies for improving the accessibility at each location. The plan will guide changes to the way existing services, activities, and programs are provided in multiple locations throughout Lassen Volcanic by defining what barriers limit accessibility and providing recommendations on how they can be modified or removed to increase accessibility for all users.

“Providing experiences for all visitors at Lassen Volcanic National Park is a top priority,” said Superintendent Jim Richardson. “We strive to do all we can to ensure everyone’s enjoyment of this special national park. We hope to hear from our visitors on how we can help them do just that.”

If you would like to provide input about the Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan, please submit your comments by visiting the project planning website at: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/LAVOaccessibility.
