Hike with the Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent

 Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, CA—The National Park Service turns 100 years old this year. In recognition and celebration of this milestone, Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent David Smith will be leading hikes up 5 different peaks in the park. The schedule is as follows:

Pinto Mountain, 3,983 ft., 9 miles - January 9, 2016 - meet at Turkey Flats Backcountry Board, 9:00 am; hike lasts all day

Monument Mountain, 4,834 ft., 6 miles - February 6, 2016 - meet at Cottonwood Visitor Center, 8:30 am; hike lasts a half day

Eagle Peak, 5,350 ft., 10 miles - March 5, 2016 - meet at Cottonwood Visitor Center, 8:30 am; hike lasts all day

Queen Mountain, 5,687 ft., 4 miles - April 2, 2016 - meet at Joshua Tree Visitor Center, 8:00 am; hike lasts a half day

Quail Mountain, 5,813 ft., 12 miles - April 30, 2016 - met at Joshua Tree Visitor Center, 7:00 am; hike lasts all day

These hikes are all challenging and participants should be fit and in good health. Be sure and bring appropriate footwear for hiking as well as a hat, sunscreen, food, and water. Please call 760-367-5502 to RSVP.
