Twentynine Palms, CA, Joshua Tree National Park

Over 327,000 visitors to Joshua Tree National Park in March, set an all time record, up from 256,000 visitors in the same month in 2015. Visitor centers, campgrounds and hiking trails were extremely busy with park visitors enjoying the weather and a much better wildflower bloom than in the past few years.

Superintendent David Smith said "More and more people from around the world and even here in the southland realize what a special and unique place the park is. There really is no other place like this on the planet. Our challenge is how to enable these new park visitors to enjoy the park while still protecting the fragile desert ecosystem".

2016 is the centennial year of the National Park Service. Special events and opportunities are offered this year at all 410 units managed by the park service and you are invited to come out and "Find Your Park".
