JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, Twentynine Palms, California – On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill that created the agency "to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein, and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations". For the last one hundred years, the National Park Service has been doing just that. As an agency under the management of Department of the Interior, the NPS oversees 412 units and employs over 23,000 people all mandated with the responsibility of looking after our nation's most precious natural and cultural resources.
In honor of the centennial birthday, all units of the park service will offer free admission from August 25- August 28th. You are invited to come out and celebrate and Find Your Park!
