Volunteers are invited to Joshua Tree National Park to participate in the 25th Annual National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 22, from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. National Public Lands Day is the largest single day of volunteerism each year on America’s public lands. It is also a fee-free day for visitors to the park.

Joshua Tree National Park, in cooperation with the National Environmental Education Foundation, will host a family-friendly event in which volunteers will work side by side with park staff on projects within the park. This year’s projects will include micro-trash pick-up and trails improvement. Registration is between 7:30 and 8:00 am at Oasis Visitor Center (74485 National Park Drive) in Twentynine Palms.

NPLD educates Americans about the environment and natural resources and the need for shared stewardship of these valued, irreplaceable lands. Last year, National Public Lands Day attracted over 200,000 volunteers at 2600 sites in every state and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Volunteers should bring water, sunscreen, appropriate footwear (no flip-flops), and a “can-do” attitude. All participants will receive a one-day park pass (while they last) for their time and energy. If you have questions, please call 760 367-5521.
