At the start of National Volunteer Week we would like to introduce our Community Volunteer Ambassador, Nathaniel Young. After growing up in the outskirts of Buffalo, NY, Nathaniel Young studied Ecology and Evolution at Cornell University. During his time as an undergrad and for over a year after graduating in May 2015, he worked as a field biologist for various ornithology research projects. Throughout 2017 he served with the Student Conservation Association in New York State Parks where he developed and led programs for campers, worked with visiting school groups, fought invasive plant species and built new trails. He is excited to be living and working in Joshua Tree National Park and helping visitors more deeply connect with this ecosystem he loves. We look forward to Nathaniel’s contribution to the park in the upcoming year.
