Joshua Tree National Park will close some campsites on June 12. These facilities will reopen for Columbus Day weekend, October 7, 8, and 9, or earlier if necessary to accommodate increased park visitation.

Belle, Ryan, and White Tank campgrounds will be entirely closed at the access road. The restroom and the Arch Rock Nature Trail will remain open in White Tank, however hikers will need to park outside and walk to the nature trail.

Some campsites at Black Rock, Cottonwood, and Indian Cove campgrounds will be closed. Group sites, nature trails, and picnic areas in these campgrounds will remain open.

All campsites in Hidden Valley and Jumbo Rocks campgrounds and Sheep Pass Group Campground will remain open. All other park facilities, including visitor centers and picnic areas, will also remain open for visitor use during the summer.

In addition regularly scheduled tours of the Keys Ranch historic site will be suspended for the summer. However, a limited number of tours for groups of ten or more may be arranged by calling 760-367-5555

The reduced need for overnight camping during the hot summer season allows the park to close some campsites. Closure will permit impacted areas to recover and will also help to reduce the cost of maintaining these facilities.
