HOUGHTON, MI – On Wednesday, October 30, 2019, from 4 – 6 pm, drop in to the Houghton Visitor Center at the Ranger III dock for the second annual Halloween themed Ranger III Big Boat Boo.
Free guided tours will begin and end at the Houghton Visitor Center, and times will be staggered as people arrive. Reservations are not needed. Last year, over 300 people participated in the Big Boat Boo, so expect a wait to join the next available tour. Dress warmly and come in costume if you like!
The program is co-sponsored by the Isle Royale and Keweenaw Parks Association (IRKPA) and Isle Royale National Park. IRKPA volunteers will lead tours through Ranger III and stop at several locations where costumed staff will emerge as spooky Isle Royale wildlife. Tours will include treats along the way and a stop in the pilot house.
During the event, browse the park store which will have a 20% off sale for this event only, and you can have your photo taken in a ranger cut-out. Afterwards, head over to the Portage Lake District Library from 6 - 8 pm for more Halloween food, movies, games, and fun.
