The National Park Service has announced a full schedule of programs for National Park Week 2012. Starting with the annual Park Palooza on Arlington Lawn on Saturday, April 21, and concluding with a hike on West Mountain on Sunday, April 29, this will be the third year that Hot Springs National Park has scheduled special programming for the entire 9-day event. The theme for this year is "Picture Yourself in the National Parks."

Continuing to emphasize Let's Move Outside! park rangers will be leading special walks and hikes as well as offering some child-specific programming such as two Civil War days and "Olly Olly Oxen Free" at Gulpha Gorge.

Park Superintendent Josie Fernandez stated, "Our staff has really embraced the idea of annually celebrating National Park Week. Whether you want to join approximately 2,500 other people who come to play on Arlington Lawn during Park Palooza or you're looking for a more intimate experience by going on a nature hike on a mountain trail, we have nine days of free activities that will help you 'picture yourself' in Hot Springs National Park."
