Prelude to Freedom - Student Developed Vodcasts

Between September 2011 and May 2012, 143 students from Harpers Ferry Middle School volunteered with Harpers Ferry National Historical Park to complete six vodcasts (mini-movies) about the year 1862. Based on their hands-on experiences in the park and analysis of primary source documents, the students served as writers, editors, photographers, costumers, videographers, and directors to produce this fourth installment of student-developed movies.

These vignettes or vodcasts are now part of the park’s official interpretation and available for you to view, download, and enjoy while in the park or at home.
