In conjunction with Black History Month and the National Park Service Centennial, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is pleased to announce its Black History Month program for 2016. A special  exhibit, The Buffalo Soldier and the Birth of the National Park Service, will focus on the contributions made by the African American troops who served as the first  caretakers of our national parks.

This special exhibit will host an open house on Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the second floor of the John Brown Museum on Shenandoah Street in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Park Ranger Reginald Murray from William Howard Taft National Historic Site in Cincinnati, Ohio, will be the featured speaker. A twenty year veteran of the National Park Service, Murray will portray a soldier in the 9th and 10th Cavalry units of the Buffalo Soldiers.
