Celebrate Archeology Month at Harpers Ferry

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va – Go behind the scenes with the archeologist at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park on Monday, October 2, 2017 for Artifact Sneak Peek. Celebrate archeology month by learning about objects from the park’s archeology collection.

The highlighted archeological objects will include prehistoric projectile points, Armory firearm components, Civil War militaria, and the domestic objects of everyday life. Participants will learn the unique story behind each artifact and how each one helps archaeologists understand and interpret the past in Harpers Ferry.
 
This 60-minute program begins at 2 p. m. in the Allies for Freedom Room on the second floor of the John Brown Museum in Lower Town, Harpers Ferry. To access this location, visitors should go to the park’s visitor center at 171 Shoreline Drive, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. Shuttle buses will be available to transport visitors from the visitor center to Lower Town throughout the day.
