HARPERS FERRY, W.Va.— Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (NHP) will begin a three-month pilot for cashless entrance fee collection starting April 15. The park anticipates that moving to a cashless system will allow the park to be a better steward of visitor dollars by reducing transaction times, reducing the amount of time park staff spend managing cash, improving accountability and reducing the chances of errors.Visitors to Harpers Ferry NHP can pay park entrance fees in several ways:

  • Purchase an entrance pass online prior to your visit on the park website. You will need to print out the pass and display it on your vehicle’s dashboard.

  • Purchase an entrance pass at the park entrance station, located at 171 Shoreline Drive in Harpers Ferry, using a credit or debit card. Proof of entrance fee payment should be displayed on your vehicle’s dashboard while in the park.

  • Purchase a digital entrance pass upon arrival using a smartphone and credit or debit card in park-maintained parking areas. New signage in the train station parking lot provides step-by-step instructions on this payment option. Digital passes are connected to your license plate number.

Visitors may also purchase Harpers Ferry NHP annual passes or Interagency passes upon arrival to the park. All park visitors are required to have an entrance pass upon entering Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Harpers Ferry NHP keeps 100 percent of entrance fees collected for projects that enhance the visitor experience. Recent project examples include improvements to restrooms and picnic areas and preservation of historic structures within the park.
