Hike into the Wilderness for Primitive Camping Experiences
Backpackers can choose from 10 designated campgrounds with a total of 60 campsites in the wilderness and obtain a permit at the Pine Springs Visitor Center. All use of Wilderness Campsites requires a Wilderness Use Permit. Each of these campgrounds requires a minimum of three miles and two thousand feet elevation gains to reach. All water will need to be carried in—water weight is the primary factor limiting most backpacking trips to one or two nights.
