Fort Barrancas Area

The Fort Barrancas Area is onboard the Pensacola Naval Air Station. A 100% ID check is in place at the Pensacola Naval Air Station, the base complies with the Real ID Act of 2005, check their website to ensure your state driver's license is accepted. The area includes a visitor center, three historic forts, trails, and picnic areas.


Fort Barrancas Visitor Center is open Thursdays through Mondays, and is a great place to start your visit to the area. The visitor center features exhibits about the history of the area and is staff by park rangers or volunteers. The center also has a bookstore and restrooms for visitors convenience.

The three historic forts in the area are the highlight of any trip to the area. Fort Barrancas and the Spanish Battery (Bateria de San Antonio) can be self-explored or on a ranger-led program. The Advanced Redoubt grounds can be explored daily, however the inside is only accessible on a guided program.

Hiking trails follow historic routes used by soldiers stationed at the forts and picnic areas are available near the visitor center.
