MOOSE, WY—Travelers on U.S. Highway 89/26/191 in the southern area of Grand Teton National Park should expect delays south of Gros Ventre Junction later this week and into next week. From Thursday, July 5 through Friday, July 13 travelers should expect 15-minute delays on weekdays between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. to accommodate resurfacing of the Gros Ventre River Bridge. Delays of up to 30 minutes are possible Thursday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. No weekend delays are planned July 7-8.

During the resurfacing of the bridge, there will be no delays associated with work at the Gros Ventre Junction roundabout. Construction of the roundabout began in early April and travelers through the area have been cautioned to plan ahead for delays up to 15 minutes during the day and up to 30 minutes at night in addition to customary traffic.

Throughout most of the construction activity, the contractor has been able to keep traffic delays well under the 15 and 30 minute thresholds. However, the work to resurface the Gros Ventre River Bridge, which will be completed by the same contractor, will require that only one lane of traffic be used. Flaggers will manage alternating one-way traffic. The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors.

Pathway users are advised that a temporary pathway through the intersection was completed in mid-June. Though the temporary pathway is paved and separated from the roadside, cyclists and other users should travel slowly through the construction zone and be alert for cross-traffic and construction-related activities.
