WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Glacier National Park is recruiting for volunteers this summer. As part of the effort to prevent Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) from entering Glacier National Park waters, the park is looking for volunteers to assist in issuing permits and performing boat inspections at 2 locations in Apgar. This program is vitally important in helping to prevent these destructive organisms from entering park waters, and providing an efficient permitting process for motorized boaters. For more information on the AIS program please visit our Aquatic Invasive Species page.

These volunteers will supplement park staff from July 1st through Labor Day on weekends and possibly weekdays as needed. Park staff requests a commitment of one 6 hour day per week and training and uniforms will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering with this program please contact Brian McKeon at 406-888-7976 or brian_mckeon@nps.gov.

Glacier National Park is also recruiting for volunteers for the free transit system. These summer volunteers will assist transit system users at the Apgar Transit Center (ATC) and Logan Pass. The ATC is located near the village of Apgar. Logan Pass is located along the Going-to-the-Sun Road 32 miles beyond the west entrance.

Transit system volunteers provide information and assist visitors in the use of the free shuttles. Volunteers will generally work one 6 hour shift per week during the transit system’s operating season, July 1 through September 2. In order to provide volunteers with the necessary background and skills to assist visitors at the ATC and Logan Pass, training is required and will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering with the transit system, please contact Debby Mensch at (406) 888-7935 or debby_mensch@nps.gov.

If you are interested in other volunteer opportunities please contact Glacier National Park’s Volunteer Program Coordinator Brooke Linford at (406) 888-7851 or brooke_linford@nps.gov.
