Glacier National Park Identifies Victim of Diving Accident

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [November 4, 2020] – Glacier National Park officials have identified the victim of a diving accident in Lake McDonald as 18-year-old Linnea Rose Mills of Missoula, Mont.

Mills was part of a scuba diving group that started their dive near the dock of Lake McDonald Lodge on Sunday, November 1 around 4:00 pm. At approximately 5:50 p.m., a park ranger responded to a report of a scuba diving accident at the lake. A.L.E.R.T. was first on the scene. Mills was declared deceased after resuscitation efforts by members of the diving group and first responders were unsuccessful.

The incident is under investigation and no further details are currently available. Glacier National Park staff extend their deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

Park officials thank the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and Dive Team, Three Rivers Ambulance, and A.L.E.R.T. for their assistance in this rescue effort.
