First virtual meeting on improving visitor experiences at Glacier National Park scheduled for November 21 at 5 pm

WEST GLACIER, Mont. [November 20, 2024] – Glacier National Park reminds friends, neighbors and the visiting public that the first virtual meeting to hear from park staff regarding improving visitor experiences will be held on November 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm. 

The virtual meeting will be with the park planning team and includes a presentation and a moderated question and answer time.

Park staff will share initial ideas for addressing traffic congestion, visitor movement challenges, transportation, and related issues that affect visitor experience and park resources that will be used to inform a long-term plan.

Those attending the virtual meeting will be able to ask questions, but there will be no formal recording of public comments at this event. Public comments can be submitted electronically on the project website. This site also provides a summary of key issues, project goals, the history of visitation, transportation and vehicle reservations in the park. 

The National Park Service is seeking public input on the future of how visitors access and travel around the park, including the North Fork, Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and Going-to-the-Sun Road. Comments from the public will be gathered through January 6, 2025.

There are several more upcoming opportunities to learn more about the planning process and ask park staff questions. Scheduled opportunities include:

Join the park planning team for a drop-in style opportunity to speak with park staff about issues related to the plan. Please note, there will be no formal presentation or recorded public comment opportunities at these events. 

  • December 2, 2024-Open house from 4 to 6 pm at the Residence Inn Downtown in Missoula.  
  • December 3, 2024-Open house from 4 to 6 pm at the KwaTaqNuk Resort & Casino in Polson. 
  • December 4, 2024-Open house from 4 to 6 pm at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. 
  • December 5, 2024-Open house from 4 to 6 pm at Blackfeet Community College in Browning.
