Public Land Managers to Give Talk for Tourism Sector Employees

West Glacier, MT – Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow, along with Flathead National Forest Supervisor Chip Weber and Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks Regional Parks Manager David Landstrom will give a presentation to tourism business owners and front-line staff about what to expect from local public lands this summer.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 2:30 pm – 4 pm at Flathead Valley Community College, Arts and Technology Building, Room 139. 

Mow will describe changes in visitation patterns and updates on what park visitors can expect to see this summer. Landstrom and Weber will provide an introduction to recreational opportunities on other state and federal lands, and important user and safety tips for a successful trip.

Sheena Pate with the Crown of the Continent Geotourism Council will present an innovative new trip planning tool that seamlessly integrates outdoor recreational opportunities with other services such as food and beverage and lodging. 

“Our local front-line tourism staff across the Flathead Valley did a great job welcoming over three million guests to the area last year,” said Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow. “This talk is to make sure that those staff have the tools they need to provide advice and trip planning assistance throughout this summer to the many clients they’ll serve at hotels, coffee shops, restaurants, and guiding operations throughout our region.” 

This event is hosted by the Associated Chambers of Flathead Valley, along with the Glacier National Park Conservancy. It is free and open to all tourism based business owners and staff who provide services to summer visitors.
