Park Rangers to Conduct Sobriety Check Point on Friday, August 13
Protecting Resources.  Protecting You.
BUSHKILL, PA- Park rangers at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will conduct a sobriety check point on the Pennsylvania side of the park on Friday evening, August 13, in an effort reduce the number of impaired drivers on park roads and keep motorists safe. “Though our busiest season may be winding down, there are still a lot of people out enjoying the park and making the most of the remaining days of summer,” said Acting Deputy Chief Ranger Todd Roessner. “We want to make sure that our visitors, our employees, and local residents have a safe drive when traveling through the park.”

Rangers will make every effort to ensure that stops are as brief as possible to minimize any inconvenience. If alcohol or drug use is detected, rangers can and will arrest the driver on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).  The intent of this effort is to reduce the number of drug and alcohol-related injuries on park roads while protecting park resources and providing greater public safety.
