Cape Hatteras National Seashore seeks individuals between the ages of 15 and 18 years old to apply for its Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) summer employment program. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2023.

Participants will get paid to work, learn and gain leadership skills. No prior experience is needed, just an eagerness to make a difference. YCC engages young people in meaningful work experiences at national parks, forest, wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries, while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.

The YCC session dates for Cape Hatteras National Seashore are June 19-Aug.11, 2023. Participants will work on a variety of maintenance projects on Hatteras Island, including fence repair, boardwalk maintenance and painting. The pay is $15 per hour for a 40-hour work week. Housing is not available, and individuals must be able to report for work in Buxton, North Carolina.

More information about the application process is available by emailing scott_babinowich@nps.gov or on the YCC website.
