Hot, Dry Weather Conditions Prompt Stage 2 Fire Ban at Bighorn Canyon NRA

Due to high temperatures and very high to extreme fire danger across Montana and Wyoming, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is instituting Stage 2 Fire restrictions throughout the entire park (Except Horseshoe Bend Picnic Area and Campground) beginning July 21, 2021.

Stage 2 fire restrictions prohibit the following activities:
1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire, charcoal barbecue or grills.
2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building. 

The ban is in effect until further notice. The National Park Service thanks the public for their cooperation with the fire ban. For more information on fire restrictions please contact the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center in Lovell at 307-548-5406.
