Bighorn Canyon is once again partnering with Powell Valley Community Education (PVCE) to present the Bighorn Canyon Spring Speaker Series. A variety of topics will be covered. Presentations will be presented in person and streamed on the PVCE Facebook page live (https://www.facebook.com/PowellValleyCommunityEd).

George Washington: The Founding Father You Thought You Knew - February 25, NWC Fagerberg Building 70, 6:30 PM

Come celebrate the 289th birthday of America's Founding Father with Park Ranger Todd Johnson as he explores some of the most unique aspects of George Washington life, from his strained relationship with his mother, his massive dental issues, and the radical decision to free his slaves at the end of his life. This program is sure to shed light on aspects of our country first president you never knew.


Archaeology 101: Beyond Indiana Jones and Lara Croft -March 18, NWC Fagerberg Building 70, 6:30 PM

Think you know what archaeology is all about? How many times has the presenter been chased by a boulder? What kind of hat do you wear? Are you really that good with a whip? Join archaeologist Richard Olsen to find out the answers to these questions, and more, and maybe along the way learn about the basics of archaeology and what goes into practicing it.


Caroline Lockhart and her Many Characters - April 15, NWC Fagerberg Building 70, 6:30 PM

We have all heard that Caroline Lockhart based her characters on the people she interacted with in her life. Join Ranger Christy Fleming to learn more about the characters found in three of Caroline Lockhart’s novels and the locals she is said to have based them on.



Ranger Jen's top 10 hikes in and around Bighorn Canyon NRA - May 13, NWC Fagerberg Building 70, 6:30 PM

Join Ranger Jen as she shares her 10 favorite hikes both in Bighorn Canyon and the surrounding area. There may be a few local favorites, but there may be a few surprises too! All are day trips from the Lovell/Powell area and are family and pet friendly.
