Winter is here. Ice is forming in Crooked Creek bay and ice chunks are floating in the Shoshone River. This is a good indication it is time to start pulling the courtesy docks at Bighorn Canyon. On October 31, 2019, the Horseshoe Bend courtesy dock will be pulled out of the water in preparation for ice fishing season. Courtesy docks at Barry’s Landing and Ok-A-Beh will remain until the lake starts to freeze in those locations. Prior to ice fishing, deer and pheasant hunters will enjoy the continued road improvements in the Yellowtail Habitat Management Area.

As the weather changes, Bighorn Canyon reminds visitors to check road and weather conditions before visiting. Visitors are encouraged to dress in layers to prepare for changing weather conditions and to have an emergency kit with extra clothes and food in their vehicles.

For information on conditions, please contact the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center at 307-548-5406.
