Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is preparing for summer and the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. The courtesy docks are in at Barry’s Landing and Ok-A-Beh. The Kane boat ramp is cleared and open. The docks and the floating comfort stations have been placed at Day Board 9, Black Canyon and Dryhead. The concession dock at Ok-A-beh will be in the water by May 18. All the campgrounds are open. The utility sites and dump and fill station at Horseshoe Bend are open, as well as the fish cleaning stations. All hiking trails are open and offer a variety of spring and summer scenery.As of May 14, the lake elevation was 3613.14. Minimum launch level at Horseshoe Bend is 3617. The boat ramp at Horseshoe Bend is unusable until lake levels rise to minimum launch levels and above.
New docks for both Barry’s Landing and Horseshoe Bend will arrive at the end of May. The docks at Barry’s will be placed shortly after arrival. The docks at Horseshoe Bend will be placed when the lake level reaches at least 3617.
Ok-A-Beh Marina will open for Memorial Day. The marina has variety of services including pontoon rentals, fuel and a small store. This is the only place fuel can be purchased on Bighorn Lake. Please plan accordingly. The Horseshoe Bend Marina will also be open for Memorial Day weekend. Boat tours will be daily starting mid-June at 10am and at 2pm with Friday and Saturday evening tours at 6:30p.m. For more information about boat tours, call Hidden Treasure Charters at 307-899-1401.
