BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TX -The Boquillas Port of Entry within Big Bend National Park, providing access to the town of Boquillas, Coahuila, Mexico, as well as the Mexican Protected Areas of Maderas del Carmen and Ocampo, will change to the summer schedule beginning Sunday, April 28. Beginning Friday, May 3, the crossing will be open four days a week, Fridays through Mondays.
Summer Hours of Operation:
Pedestrians will be able to access the port between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
OPEN: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
CLOSED: Tues, Weds, Thurs
Important Note:
During the transition week from winter to summer schedule, the crossing will be:
- OPEN Sunday, April 28
- CLOSED April 29 through May 2 (Monday through Thursday).
Please note that clocks in the Mexican State of Coahuila are not adjusted to Daylight Saving Time and will display one hour behind the U.S. Port of Entry.
At the Port of Entry, visitors will be able to cross into Mexico by foot (during low water) or by rowboat ferry (for a fee) during business hours only. This port of entry does not accommodate vehicle crossings or commercial importation of products. There is NO other legal access to Mexico within or through Big Bend National Park.
Proper documentation is required to cross. U.S. and Canadian citizens can cross with a valid passport. For complete information on other accepted travel documents, contact U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Presidio, TX at 432-229-3349.
The Boquillas Port of Entry is operated cooperatively by the National Park Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The facility is staffed by National Park Rangers who can assist travelers with information about visiting the area.
