BAR HARBOR, MAINE- The National Park Service (NPS) is searching for a 45-year old man, Adam “AJ” Emmett, who was last reported seen early morning on Monday, April 8. The NPS is searching a large area around Schooner Head Overlook in Acadia National Park with assistance from the Maine Warden Service, Marine Patrol, Maine Association for Search and Rescue, and the United States Coast Guard.

On Tuesday, April 9, park rangers noticed that a vehicle had been parked in the Schooner Head Overlook since before Monday’s snowstorm. NPS park rangers checked the immediate area and were unable to contact the owner.

On Wednesday, the NPS conducted a search of the area around Schooner Head and Great Head with the law enforcement and search dog teams. The Maine Warden Service and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) were notified to assist with the search. “Missing Person” notices were sent to media and news outlets to determine if anyone had information related to the missing person. The Maine Warden Service is taking the lead on continued search efforts while NPS is handing the investigation.

On Thursday, the search continues with USCG boats searching shoreline and offshore and the Marine Patrol searching the area from a fixed wing airplane and Maine Warden Service dog teams.

Adam “AJ” Emmett is a well-liked and respected resident and we understand friends want to assist in the search efforts. At this point in time we ask that individuals stay out of the search area to allow focused search efforts to continue.

Please contact the Maine Warden Service 207-973-3700 or Acadia National Park 207-288-8791 if you have any information regarding this individual as it pertains to this search.
