Acadia National Park Advisory Commission Meets Virtually June 7

BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet virtually at 1 pm on Monday June 7. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comments.

Among the agenda items –

  • Reports on the status of the park’s pandemic response, visitation, revenue, and   concessions

  • An update on Great American Outdoors Act projects, and other significant efforts, such as the rehabilitation of Eagle Lake Carriage Road

  • An update on the Transportation Plan, including the current vehicle reservation system for Cadillac Summit Road and the Acadia Gateway Center

  • Highlights of Education and Resources Management Programs

  • A status update on Bass Harbor Head Light Station

  • An update on the Schoodic Institute, and Friends of Acadia

  • Opportunity for Public Comment

The public may join the WebEx meeting from a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, or Android device. Participants that join solely by phone will be in listen only mode and will not have the ability to ask questions or view presentations that may be used.

Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor.
