Advisory Commission Meets Virtually Feb 1

BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet virtually at 1 pm on Monday, Feb 1. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comment.

Among the agenda items –

  • Reports on the status of the park’s pandemic response, visitation, revenue and concessions

  • An update on Great American Outdoors Act projects, and other significant efforts, such as the rehabilitation of Eagle Lake Carriage Road

  • An update on the Transportation Plan, including an overview of findings from an 18-day pilot of a Vehicle Reservation System in October, plans for further implementation of the system this summer, and a proposed expanded amenity fee to cover system costs.

  • A status update on Bass Harbor Head Light Station

  • An update on the Schoodic Institute, and a report about the Schoodic Shores Redevelopment

  • An update from Friends of Acadia

  • Opportunity for Public Comment

Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor.
