BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet in-person at Moore Auditorium at the Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor, ME at 1 pm on Mon, Sept 12. There will also be a virtual option available for those unable to attend in-person. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comment.
Agenda topics will include:
- Superintendent’s update on the 2022 season and other topics.
- Major construction projects, including the park headquarters maintenance complex, Schoodic water and wastewater rehabilitation, and Duck Brook bridge repair.
- Discovery of hemlock woolly adelgids (HWA)
- Reports from Friends of Acadia and Schoodic Institute.
Additional topics may be discussed based on the interest of the Advisory Commission members.
Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Advisory Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton and Winter Harbor.
The meeting will also have a virtual option held on Zoom. Participants who join by phone will be in listen only mode and will not have the ability to ask questions or view presentations.
