Acadia National Park Advisory Commission Meeting Announced for Sept 14

BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet virtually at 1 – 3 pm on Monday September 14, 2020. While we hope to return to in-person meetings as soon as possible we are continuing to follow state public health guidelines. The current limitations on indoor gatherings is set at no more than 50 people at a time. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comments.

Among the agenda items, Superintendent Kevin Schneider will provide a report on park operations, the Great American Outdoor Act, the Acadia Transportation Plan, Bass Harbor Head Light acquisition, and the Eagle Lake Carriage Road Rehabilitation.  

It is strongly encouraged that the public join this meeting through the internet. Those that join solely by phone will be in listen only mode and will not have the ability to ask questions or view presentations that may be used. Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor.
