BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet at park headquarters (20 McFarland Hill Drive) in Bar Harbor at 1 – 3 pm on Monday, March 12, 2018. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comments.
Superintendent Kevin Schneider will report on the status of the Transportation Plan and the update on National Park Service leasing of Blue Duck Building among other items of interest to the Advisory Commission.
Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor.
The next two meetings of the Advisory Commission will be at 1 pm on June 4, 2018, at park headquarters in Bar Harbor, and 1 pm on September 10, 2018, at the Schoodic Education and Research Center in Winter Harbor.
