BAR HARBOR, ME – During the shutdown of the federal government due to the lapse of appropriations, national parks will remain as accessible as possible while still following all applicable laws and procedures.
There will be no National Park Service provided visitor services at Acadia National Park, including public information, restrooms, and trash collection. No facilities and roads maintenance (including plowing) will be conducted.
Park Rangers will be patrolling the park as part of their normal duties. In the event of an emergency, please dial 911. Please be aware cell phone service and coverage varies throughout the park and some areas may not have coverage.
Park Loop Road sections normally open this time of year will remain open (Ocean Drive, Sieur de Monts, and access to Jordan Pond area). In the event of hazardous conditions, these sections will close to vehicles. Acadia National Park parking lots normally open in winter will remain open but will not be plowed in the event of snow. The Schoodic Loop will remain open and plowed to allow employees access to housing.
Carriage roads will remain open, however the carriage roads will not be groomed for skiing. Snow groomers are Acadia National Park volunteers hosted through Friends of Acadia and volunteer services cannot continue during the shutdown.
All restrooms in the park are closed.
No new camping permits for Blackwoods Campground can be issued.
The Acadia Annual Pass, December sales will continue through the various local town offices and chambers of commerce until the end of the month or while supplies last.

Partners may share out this information per their discretion. Partner Facebook accounts such as Friends of Acadia, Schoodic Institute, Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce, and others may also contain information relevant to Acadia National Park.
No additional changes will be made to the Acadia NP website during the shutdown.
