BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet in-person at Moore Auditorium at the Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor, ME at 1 pm on Monday, September 11. There will also be a virtual option available for those unable to attend in-person. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comment.
The agenda will include a Superintendent’s report with updates on park operations; positions funded by the Inflation Reduction Act; housing; construction and maintenance projects; projects funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law; a summary of the park’s new Resource Stewardship Strategy; and the Island Explorer. Additional topics may be discussed based on the interest of the Advisory Commission members. Friends of Acadia and Schoodic Institute will also provide reports.
Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands. The Advisory Commission is comprised of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton and Winter Harbor.
