Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is located in south-central Ohio at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

By Plane

The nearest airport is the Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) located 50 miles north of the park. Take 1-270 south. Exit on State Route 23 heading south. Once in Chillicothe, follow signs to the park via State Route 159/Bridge Street, US Route 35, and State Route 104.

By Car

The park's Mound City Group Visitor Center in Chillicothe, Ohio is located two miles north of the intersection of US Route 35 and State Route 104.

Freshwater mussels were an important resource for people associated with the Hopewell culture. Mussels were used as a food source, provided pearls for ornaments, and shells were utilized for hoes.
