SPRINGDALE, UT - Zion National Park’s Artist-In-Residence program is open to all applicants beginning, June 8, 2017 through July 31, 2017. The Zion National Park Artist-In-Residence Program offers professional artist, of all disciplines, the opportunity to live and work in the Park for a period of one month. All visual, performing, and literary artist are welcome to apply. The Park works in conjunction with Southern Utah University’s Art Department staff to select the artists. Those selected will be given use of the iconic Grotto House for their one month stay in the Park. Artist selections will be made and announced sometime in October 2017.
When in residence, the artist is highly independent, but is expected to present two public programs tailored to their medium, hold periodic open studio showings, and interact with Park visitors. Upon conclusion of the residency, the artist is given up to six months to complete an original work, which will be donated to the Park’s collection.
