A new lightning-caused wildfire was discovered in the evening of July 27th by reconnaissance aircraft in the Upper Charley River, south of Three Fingers airstrip. The Ruby Creek Fire #282 is 15 acres and exhibiting moderate fire behavior. The fire is in monitor status and will be monitored by Alaska Fire Service aircraft. Point source protection strategies will be implemented, if necessary.

Visitors and pilots are cautioned to be aware of wildfire smoke and fire management aircraft, as a high-pressure weather system continues, extending warm, dry, fire-prone conditions. Floaters on the Upper Charley River, using Three Fingers Airstrip, are cautioned to be aware of changing fire conditions and weather in the immediate area.
