A celebration honoring the life of Steven P. Medley will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 in Yosemite National Park. Steve was the president of the non-profit Yosemite Association from 1985 until his death in a car accident on October 5, 2006. The memorial will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Grey Barn, located next to the covered bridge and the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona. National Park Service Deputy Superintendent Kevin Cann, and representatives from the Yosemite Association Board of Trustees, staff, and Yosemite Rotary will speak. Following the scheduled speakers, the microphone will be open for guests to share tributes to Steve. A reception will follow the ceremony at 3:00 p.m. at the Wawona Hotel. Dress is casual. Please be mindful of the weather; this event will be held rain, snow, or shine. Suggestions for lodging and parking information are available at www.yosemite.org Donations made to the Yosemite Association in Steve's memory will be designated by the board of trustees for uses that honor his legacy of stewardship for Yosemite National Park.
