Backcountry road closing for maintenance at Wind Cave National Park

Red Valley Road (NPS 6) will be closed for maintenance work beginning September 16.

HOT SPRINGS, SD – Maintenance crews at Wind Cave National Park will be working on Red Valley Road, also known as NPS 6, beginning September 16 and continuing at least through September 27.

During this period, the road will be closed from the junction of Highland Ridge Road (NPS 5) to the border with Custer State Park. This work is intended to improve the road surface, making it easier for low clearance vehicles to use the road.
