ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO – White Sands National Monument, in celebration of New Mexico’s first Indigenous Peoples’ Day, will be holding two special programs October 12 and 13.

We are honored to have Randy Granger from Las Cruces, New Mexico perform both days at the monument. Randy is a professional musician, storyteller, educator, composer, and recording artist. A multiple award-winning musician, he tours the U.S. as a solo artist headlining many festivals, leading workshops and teaching at Native American flute schools throughout the U.S.

On Saturday, October 12, Randy will be performing in the visitor center courtyard from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, join rangers in the courtyard to decorate pieces of wood in patterns that represent the dunefield in your eyes. The program is free, and all ages are welcome.

On Sunday, October 13, join Randy for a relaxing summer evening in our amphitheater from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm for the last full moon night program of the year. Randy will fill the moonlit night with his unique blend of instruments, interpretation of traditional melodies, and heartfelt music. The program is free. Monument entrance fees will apply.

A native of New Mexico, Randy is of Mayan and Apache ancestry and specializes in the Native American flute and storytelling as well as other acoustic instruments. Randy plays and records with numerous percussion instruments, world flutes, stringed instruments, and Handpans.
