Whiskeytown National Recreation Area will hold a public meeting on October 21, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Redding's City Hall at 777 Cypress Street to present the Whiskeytown Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. As part of the planning process, the National Park Service is seeking public comment on the draft plan. Your participation is important to our planning process.

Through an interdisciplinary team including park and regional staff, we finalized our list of key park experiences and priority park areas, assessed the accessibility of each priority park area, and developed implementation strategies for improving the accessibility at each location. The plan will guide changes to the way existing services, activities, and programs are provided at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, by defining what barriers limit accessibility in multiple locations throughout the park. It further provides recommendations on how they can be modified or removed in order to increase accessibility for all users.

Whiskeytown would like the public's input on the draft plan. This public open house will include a brief presentation describing the planning process, followed by the opportunity to ask questions and share your perspectives on the draft plan. Your input continues to be important to the planning process and will help us as we work to ensure the National Park Service is more accessible to all visitors. The National Park Service values the public's interest in Whiskeytown, and we look forward to your participation in this planning process.

Please join us and if you will need any accommodations to participate, such as assistive listening devices, large print, braille, a sign language interpreter, or real time captioning, please contact the park accessibility coordinator at 530-242-3460 or email e-mail us. Please allow for a minimum of seven days prior to the meeting to meet your accommodations.

If you would like to provide input about the Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan but are unable to attend the public meetings, please submit your comments by visiting the project planning website at: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/parkHome.cfm?parkID=345
