Volunteer Opportunity: Trails Monitoring Project

The National Park Service at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is seeking physically active volunteers to participate in an upcoming trails monitoring project. The project is to start on Monday, April 17th, and is expected to last at least one calendar year. The park is seeking interested individuals who are willing to participate in this monitoring project. Responsibilities of this volunteer effort include residing at a trailhead or at a monitoring station along a trail for up to three hours and tallying the number of visitors that are using the trails and recording what sort of activity they are participating in (e.g., biking, hiking, running, horseback riding, etc.). Ideally, volunteers would be scheduled to help at least once every couple of weeks, but if this is too demanding, we are happy work with anyone who has the time and energy to volunteer here. This is a great opportunity to get outside, work with park staff, and learn about the park’s trails!

If you have an interest in helping Whiskeytown National Recreation Area with this project, please contact Brian Rasmussen at e-mail us
