Thanks to a Dignity Health grant obtained by the Friends of Whiskeytown to promote educational and physical activity, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is proud to introduce our new, free Ranger-led Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Program!
Join Whiskeytown rangers at beautiful Brandy Creek Beach to learn a new skill and experience the lake from a fresh perspective. Designed as an introduction to this popular sport, this one-hour, free program will introduce the basics of stand-up paddle boarding while encouraging healthy activity on Whiskeytown Lake. Paddleboards, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Participation is limited by reservation only, with 10 guests per program, and for ages 12 and above. For all children between the ages of 12 and 18, there must be at least one adult supervisor to take responsibility.
The Ranger-led SUP program will begin on Sunday, July 24, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, and continues each Sunday through September 4. The National Park Service will begin taking reservations for the first program on Monday, July 11. Reservations can be made for up to 4 people per call, no more than two weeks in advance of the desired trip date, by calling (530) 242-3462, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
