Friends of Whiskeytown is Awarded a Dignity Health Community Grant

The Friends or Whiskeytown, Inc. was awarded a Dignity Health Community Grant to support park projects in 2017! Mercy Medical Center Redding has awarded $175,100 to fund non-profit organizations that support Mercy’s vision and values of improving health status and the quality of life of local communities. The Friends of Whiskeytown, Inc. was one of the five recipients of these funds to help provide educational and physical activity opportunities to children and families on through park activities. The $38,557 will provide a scholarship for approximately 60 kids to attend WES Camp, help support the transportation to Brandy Creek on the Beach Bus with RABA, and will assist in the purchasing of new kayaks and life jackets.

The Friends of Whiskeytown, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization cooperating with the National Park Service in the stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of Whiskeytown National Recreational Area. Cooperation may be provided through supporting appropriate visitor opportunities to observe, experience and understand the character of the area; working with park staff and completing special projects; and taking the lead in fundraising for special projects.
