Fires at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area
Whiskeytown currently has at least four wildfires burning in the park. These fires started during the lightening storm that passed through the early morning hours of June 21. Two of the fires are on the northside of Shasta Bally Mountain, one is in the Crystal Creek drainage, and one is near Mule Mountain. Crews are out looking for new fires as the storm continues.
Currently The Boulder Creek Falls trail is closed to visitors, to allow access for firefighters.
Fire crews from the National Park Service, Cal Fire Sugar Pine Inmate crews and contract crews from Firestorm are hiking in to access the fires, which are all located in remote areas.
Please contact Fire Information Officer, Carol Jandrall, at 530 242-3461. |
