Book Signing at Whiskeytown Visitor Center
Monday, September 4, 2017 Matt and Karen Smith, co-authors of the book Dear Bob and Sue will be available to meet visitors, sign books, and answer questions at the park’s visitor center located on State Highway 299 and Kennedy Memorial Drive on Monday, September 4, 2017. The event will last from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon; light refreshments will be served. Dear Bob and Sue is the story of Matt and Karen Smith's journey to all 59 U.S. National Parks. The book is written as a series of emails to their friends, Bob and Sue, in which they share their humorous and quirky observations of our nation’s parks. These observations are at times irreverent, unpredictable and sarcastic, all in the spirit of humor. While they describe experiences in each park, they do not provide an exhaustive overview of the parks visited. Instead, they use these events as a vehicle to share insights about their relationship with these places, and with each other. The book is not intended as a travel guide, nor as a recommendation for how to visit these national parks, although many readers have found it to be a useful guide none-the-less. Matt and Karen have been married for over 34 years and live in the Seattle, Washington area. Both grew up in the Midwest; they met at the University of Kansas and have been together ever since. Dear Bob and Sue is their first book project together. |
