Be A Junior Ranger

Kids can become a Whiskeytown Junior Ranger!

Hey Parents - do you have a child between the ages of 6 and 12? Next time you go to the Visitor Center, ask for the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (NRA) Junior Ranger Book. The booklet offers an engaging and educational way for youngsters to learn about the park including its unique natural features and history. They will also be introduced to such topics as climate change, wildland fire, and careers within the National Park Service. After completing the book, come to the Visitor Center with your child and they can become an official Whiskeytown NRA Junior Ranger. They'll take an oath and get a Junior Ranger badge.

Did you know that your kid can complete a Junior Ranger book at every national park unit in the country? That's over 400 site-specific books and badges! Furthermore, many state parks offer Junior Ranger books.
