JACKSONVILLE, FL –– Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, including Fort Caroline National Memorial, will be closed as of 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9 with the approach of Tropical Storm Nicole. Kingsley Plantation will close at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday November 8. The projected forecast and potential for flooding, extreme high tides, and unsafe road conditions will likely create hazards on Fort George Island, where Kingsley Plantation is located. “Tropical Storm Nicole combined with other simultaneous weather conditions has the potential to cause significant safety concerns for our visitors and employees.” stated Superintendent Chris Hughes.  All sites will be closed through Friday, November 11, 2022, and will not reopen on Saturday until a complete safety assessment has taken place. The current status will be posted as an alert on the park’s website.
